COURSE OBJECTIVES:

  • Identify and locate the major components associated with each system
  • Explain the purpose and the interface of the system and associated main components
  • Identify, locate, and describe the system controls in the aircraft
  • Explain the operation of each main system and its major components
  • Explain the maintenance requirements of each main system and its major components
  • Perform BITE function tests of components and/or other system respectively equipped
  • Describe, in detail, troubleshooting and isolation failures of specific system or components in accordance with maintenance and applicable documentation

TRAINING METHOD:
Knowledge transfer will be achieved by instructor-led instruction in the classroom accompanied by the use of projector media, manufacturer manuals, vendor publications, and practical training tools.

COURSE TRAINING AIDS:
Training aids include the following: PowerPoint slides, system diagrams, part cutaways, special system computer animations, IPT, and full-flight simulators. This course may also use a Virtual Maintenance Trainer (VMT) device called Simfinity, which is based upon the actual full-motion Simulation driver software.

Gulfstream G550 Core Systems Maintenance Initial

Course Description:

The main focus of this course is on the airframe core systems and powerplant. In addition to training on core systems operations, emphasis is placed on maintenance procedures, ground handling and servicing tasks, functional and operational tests (as applicable), and troubleshooting/fault isolation procedures and best practices. 

 

Note:

Core Systems & Powerplant training differs from the traditional Maintenance Initial in that it is designed to be a more focused curriculum for technicians that may already have initial exposure and/or experience on the particular aircraft. Technicians with no prior exposure and/or experience are encouraged to attend the Maintenance Initial course.

 

This course does not include training on the following subjects:

• General (ATA 05-12, 20, 25, 33, 38, 44)

• Structures (ATA 50, 51, 53-57)

• Avionics (ATA 22, 23, 34) 

• Engine (ATA 70, 71, 72)

 

Course Objectives:

After completion of this Maintenance Initial Type Course, the student should be able to:

• Describe the purpose and interfaces of each system and associated components.

• Explain the operation of each main system and associated components.

• Identify and locate the major components associated with each system.

• Identify, locate and describe the system controls and indications.

• Correlate information for the purpose of making decisions in respect to fault diagnosis and rectification to maintenance manual level.

• Correlate information for the purpose of making decisions in respect aircraft dispatch ability.

• Use and interpret the appropriate technical publications

Training Method:

Knowledge transfer will be achieved by Instructor Lead Training (ILT) in the classroom accompanied by the use of Simfinity Virtual Cockpit, projected media, printed media, manufacture’s manuals, vendor publications and practical training tools as applicable.
